Description

The Hackim 2018 CTF took place on Fri. 09/02/2018, 23:00 until Sun. 11/02/2018, 11:00. Over 1800 people took part in the event but only the top 40 were eligible to win a free conference pass for the Nullcom Goa 2018.

The Challenges

There were 6 categories (Crypto, Reverse, Pwn, Web, OSINT and Misc) and each category had at least 3 challenges. If there were more, the others were locked so you could only access the next 3 you haven’t solved.

I would say that the challenges were quite difficult and sometimes the points awarded didn’t match with the difficulty or it wasn’t clear what we had to do. I personally didn’t solve many of them, only 5 out of 24. You can find the write-ups for the most interesting ones here.

Conclusion

Despite all of this, in the end, I managed to finish at the 59th place ! 🙂

Even though I wasn’t in the top 40, I still got an email telling me that I could get my free pass. Some people must have declined the offer and so did I.

I’m not going to India for a CTF 😛
